(June 11, 2008) Manulife Mutual Funds has reached an agreement that will enable it to offer, on an exclusive basis through financial advisors, a family of investment funds advised by Mawer Investment Management Limited.

The arrangement allows Manulife to introduce new mutual funds and segregated funds, subject to regulatory approval, and to exclusively offer a broader family of funds advised by Mawer Investment Management for distribution through independent financial advisors.

With this agreement, Manulife becomes the only direct distributor of Mawer funds through the advisory channel. Investors, if they so choose, can continue to purchase existing funds on a no-load basis directly from Mawer.

“As one of Canada’s leading financial services companies, Manulife provides access to the highest quality mutual funds,” says Doug Conick, vice president of mutual funds at Manulife Financial. “We remain focused on delivering a strong product offering that meets the requirements of investors and their advisors. We are therefore very pleased to have entered into this agreement, which will serve to further strengthen and expand our already very strong family of investment funds.”

“We are honored to work closely with one of Canada’s top financial firms,” says Gerald Cooper-Key, manager of global investment fund Mawer Investment Management and Morningstar Fund Manager of the Year 2007.

AXA launches new guaranteed investment funds

(June 11, 2008) AXA has launched a new line of guaranteed mutual funds that resemble products with a guaranteed minimum distribution. Accumulife’s new option fund line will offer 12 different funds, ranging from fixed income to maximum growth portfolios, as well as insured guarantees at reset and maturity.

Accumulife Guaranteed Mutual Funds will attempt to offer the growth potential of mutual funds combined with guarantees. AXA says they fit perfectly into a portfolio diversification strategy and are ideal for investors who are still working and saving for future projects or retirement.

“Canadian investors will be able to take advantage of investment options that will help them make future projects a reality, plan for a comfortable retirement and protect their loved ones. In addition, we have provided advisors with a number of tools that allow them to take full advantage of Accumulife’s competitive advantage and offer their clients flexible, diversified investment options,” says Robert Landry, executive vice president of life insurance and financial services at AXA.
