Mogo Card users enjoy 2% cashback in bitcoin on purchases. However, as of October 1, that will end. To be more environmentally conscious, Mogo will instead plant a tree for every transaction made with the Mogo Card.
To stand out in the cryptocurrency card market, Mogo is focusing on attracting people who want to fight climate change.
Mogo will plant trees every time someone downloads the Mogo app, creates an account, or uses Mogo services, including taking out a loan or mortgage.
Mogo aims to help make Canada a climate positive country. By using the Mogo card, you can eliminate your carbon footprint and become climate positive yourself. 17 billion purchases are made in Canada every year. According to Mogo, if just 20% of those purchases were made with the Mogo card, Canada could become climate positive.
“Our goal with Mogo Card has always been to help Canadians save money while also fighting climate change. If we all have to give up our air miles, points and cashback to save the planet, that’s a small price to pay,” said David Feller, CEO of Mogo.
Mogo Card rewards will be changing to the new tree planting system as of October 1, 2021. Canadians can still use other crypto Visa cards to earn crypto cashback on their spending.
