(October 1, 2008) Canada’s Standard Life Assurance Company has launched a new website to provide advisors and investors with insight into how their Standard Life mutual funds and segregated funds are managed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn today’s competitive environment, we must actively promote Standard Life Investments’ recognized institutional expertise in the retail market,\u201d said Michel Fortin, vice president of retail marketing at Standard Life. \u201cOur continued focus on providing advisors with new and dynamic marketing tools, complemented by webcasts of market forecasts, is helping us build interest in the Standard Life fund offering.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new Focus on Funds website features short video clips of portfolio managers discussing the fund’s objectives, investment processes and fund prospects. Advisors can access the website at www.advisors.standardlife.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Opening of Man Investments in Calgary<\/b><\/p>\n

(October 1, 2008) Man Investments opened the doors to its new office in Calgary today, saying Western Canada is a key market for the company’s growth. <\/p>\n

\u201cOur new presence in Calgary reflects the growing demand for alternative investment solutions that complement the region’s accelerated growth model,\u201d says Toreigh Stuart, CEO of Man Investments Canada Corp. \u201cCalgary and all of Western Canada is home to an increasingly large number of sophisticated investors who demand unrivaled experience, high-quality services and access to a wide range of products, funds and global markets.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new office will be the center of Man’s operations in the region and will be staffed by Lawrence Berrigan, executive vice president; Athas Kouvaras, regional sales manager; and Jaclyn Britton, inside sales.<\/p>\n

Manulife improves the Simplicity line<\/b><\/p>\n

(October 1, 2008) Manulife Mutual Funds announced changes to its Simplicity asset allocation investment program, adding eight new seats and five new managers.<\/p>\n

The new managers announced include Addenda Capital, Scheer Rowlett & Associates, Greystone Managed Investments Inc., Foyston, Gordon & Payne and Wellington Management.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe latest series of enhancements are the result of extensive research, and we believe the resulting portfolios represent attractive investment options for advisors and their clients,\u201d said Jeff Ray, associate vice president of Manulife Mutual Funds.<\/p>\n

The improvements follow an annual review of each portfolio based on asset class, style, region, market capitalization, sector and manager mix.<\/p>\n
